While manufacturers and fabricators in the elastomer industry consider the products they make the result of science, for the most part only the tools used to design these parts are contributions from science. The science of elastomer technology does exist and is being used by some of the manufactures in the industry, but the majority of the knowledge of the   elastomer compounds remains the intellectual property of the manufacture. The fact does remain that this area of science remains unique and continues to evolve.
